Leaving London
After almost three years living in London, it’s time to say farewell and begin a new adventure. With our work contracts completed and our belongings, 8 boxes, being shipped to our final destination of Brisbane (harder than it sounds!), we spent a couple of weeks playing tourists in London.
Amongst the sights we visited were Buckingham Palace; the London Transport Museum; the National History Museum; the Science Museum; the British Library; the British Museum (where they had the most amazing Rodin exhibit) and the Fortnum and Mason Department Store (where we had a lovely Afternoon Tea).
We also visited a couple of local haunts such as the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Brick Lane, a wonderful pub called ‘The Pride of Spitalfields’ where we said so long to Lenny the cat, whilst having a half of Guinness, and Colin played his last few games of squash.
Finally, we said goodbye to Old Spitalfields market, which we lived next to, drank a coffee at our local Costa and checked in on ‘Freckles’, our favourite fish, who lives in a pond nearby.
So it’s been a rather fond farewell to this ancient, thriving city, but we are also tinged with excited trepidation as our new adventures await.
